FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

When is shoring mandatory?

Under DIN 4124, vertical excavation walls must be shored from a depth of about 1.25 m unless a sufficiently flat slope is possible. With tight surroundings or groundwater, shoring is almost always required.

What does Berlin-type shoring cost?

Costs depend on the shoring wall area and typically range from 150 to 350 euros per square meter. Depth, soil conditions, bracing and anchoring affect the price. You receive a binding fixed-price quote after an inspection.

Which shoring method is right?

Above groundwater, Berlin-type shoring is usually the most economical solution. In groundwater or for very deep pits, sheet piling or bored pile walls are used. Next to existing buildings, low-vibration bored pile walls are advantageous.

What is the difference between Berlin-type and Essen-type shoring?

With Berlin-type shoring, vertical steel beams are set and lagged after excavation, which requires temporarily stable soil. With Essen-type shoring, horizontal lagging is installed layer by layer with the excavation, suitable for low-stability granular soils where a free-standing cut is not possible. We decide based on the soil survey.
