PCB are chlorinated organic compounds banned in Germany in 1989. In buildings, they are found in flexible sealants, coatings, ceiling panels, and electrical components. PCB are toxic, carcinogenic, and environmentally persistent. Buildings from the 1960s-1980s in Berlin are frequently affected.
