FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What does asbestos remediation cost?

Costs depend on the type (firmly or loosely bound) and quantity of asbestos and the containment effort. Firmly bound asbestos cement boards are cheaper to remove than loosely bound sprayed asbestos. You receive a transparent fixed-price quote after an inspection.

What is the difference between firmly and loosely bound asbestos?

Firmly bound asbestos (e.g. asbestos cement) holds the fibres in a hard matrix – the risk arises mainly when breaking or drilling. Loosely bound asbestos (sprayed asbestos, insulation) releases fibres under slight stress and is far more dangerous; remediation requires a sealed containment zone.

Is asbestos remediation mandatory?

Yes. Before demolition or renovation of a building constructed before 1993, asbestos must be surveyed and any asbestos found must be professionally remediated per TRGS 519 before work continues.

How do I recognise asbestos-containing materials?

Typical suspect materials in older buildings are Eternit roof and facade panels, Floor-Flex and cushion-vinyl flooring, tile adhesive, asbestos-containing plaster and sprayed asbestos on steel beams. Only a material sample with laboratory analysis provides certainty – which we carry out before remediation.

Do you also remediate mineral fibres (KMF)?

Yes. Besides asbestos, we also remove and dispose of man-made mineral fibres (KMF) such as old glass and rock wool insulation installed until 2000. Asbestos and KMF often occur together – we remediate both professionally in one go.
